Ran French Broad section 9 from Benard to Stackhouse today with a TRR group. Don
and Karol G. both in K-1, Sue A. in K-1, Chris H. in K-1, Jeffery H. in K-1, and paddlin-ed in K-1 creekboat. Sunny day with occasonial but small cloud, basically blue skies and brilliant sunshine, with temps in the high 70 and up into the 80’s as the day progressed.
Water was only slightly cool but not a all chilly, not quite clear but decent, and level around 2,200 on the Marshall gauge. All had good runs with only minor carnage.
Clean runs through S-turn and Big pillow by all. Stopped at Sandy
Bottom for lunch. All ran the line on left of the island on the last big rapid before the re-bar area. Plenty of water to pad most everything out even through Stackhouse where its often scrappy it had plenty of flow today. Everybody chowed down on Karol’s homemade cookies at the takeout. Good time had by all.
