French Broad – March 25, 2007

Ran French Broad section 9 from Benard to Stackhouse today with a TRR group.  DonIMGP0418 and Karol G. both in K-1, Sue A. in K-1,  Chris H. in K-1, Jeffery H. in K-1, and paddlin-ed in K-1 creekboat.  Sunny day with occasonial  but small cloud, basically blue skies and brilliant sunshine, with temps in the high 70 and up into the 80’s as the day progressed.

Water was only slightly cool but not a all chilly, not quite clear but decent, and level around 2,200 on the Marshall gauge. All had good runs with only minor carnage. (more…)

Nolichucky Gorge – March 24, 2007

IMGP0356Ran the Nolichucky Gorge on Saturday March 24th, 2007 with Brian C. -K1 creekboat, Jason B.-K1 creekboat, and Kevin K. in OC-1 along with myself paddlin-ed in my K-1 playboat.  Nice day,  temps in the 70’s and water was cool but not chilling.  Bit overcast part of the day and occasional sunny until late in the day when it became very sunny.  Level was running in the 1280 to 1300 cfs range. 3-11-07 North Fork Mayo-Va629 to Boiling hole & Dogleg w/SRVCC

2007-03-11 Mayo with SRVCC 022Ran the North Fork of the Mayo with the SRVCC group on Sunday March 11th, 2007.  Gauge indications that morning where 328cfs/med. flow according the AWA rivers web site.  Clear blue skies and bright sunshine all day.  Water was clear and clean and temps started out when we put on around 2pm at 60+ with temps progressing to near 70. White Top Laurel – Upper & Lower March 3, 2007

2007-03-03 WTL-up&low 019Ran White Top Laurel near Damascus Va. today Saturday March 3rd, 2007.  Nice level – SF of Holston read 1850 early morning,  AFS-NOAA SG Damascus read 3.9,  and Paddler gauge on the Iron Bridge read +7 to +8″ getting on at 10:30am and +6″ getting off at around 4pm. (more…)
